ABOUT
This practice brings together clinical social work, the natural world, and experiential approaches that honour how people process emotion - through movement, reflection, relationship, and place.
A practice rooted in place.
Thank you for exploring this option for counselling and therapy. I am Kirsten Duncan, a registered social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting people through grief, trauma, anxiety, stress, and major life transitions.
Throughout my career, I have had the honour to work with people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. I have also witnessed and experienced the growth and healing that comes from connection, interconnection and exploration.
I have also experienced trauma, transition, challenges, stress and grief. We all have stories and experiences- we are all complex - and we live in complicated times. I believe personally and professionally in the importance of connection, safe-haven, therapeutic alliance and the importance of interconnection to heal, grow and change.
Tide & Trails is the natural evolution of this understanding - a practice that allows me to support healing, insight and change with the freedom and flexibility to work in environments that works best for you.

Community & Collective Learning
I work within a broader community of practitioners and professional networks that support informed and evolving practice.
I value collaborating with colleagues whose work shares a commitment to ethical, relational, and embodied practice, including Brooklyn Rae Greig of BRG Horsemanship.
While our work is distinct, Brooklyn’s integrative approach weaves together relational horsemanship, yoga, breath, mindful movement, and connection to the land to support health, healing, and deeper relationships with horses, self, and others.
I am a member of the BC Association of Social Workers and engaged in ongoing learning and collaboration through the ProEFW (Equine Facilitated Wellness) network and on-going training with Human Nature Counselling.
This work is guided and supported by relevant professional bodies and associations, ensuring it is delivered with integrity, ethical responsibility, and a commitment to ongoing education and high-quality care.
Beginning is simple and intentional. First step is to book a free ‘discovery call’ where we can talk, ask and answer questions about the approach. If you choose to book a futher appointment, visits are booked online or in conversation if you have further questions.
Whether we’re meeting in a private therapy space, walking a forest trail, standing by the tide, or pausing alongside a horse, each experience offers an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and reconnect.
Your Path Forward
